  • adding new references

  • converting units

  • loading tablet and smartphone models

Improved

We did some housekeeping on the UI code under the hood. For our users, this should change nothing about their user experience. For the more development-minded, what this means is that CRANE is now using Node version 20 and all dependencies have been upgraded to their latest stable releases.

New

Fixed

We were made aware of an issue where users couldn't navigate to subsequent pages of their user solutions to run an impact assessment. This issue has been fixed in the latest release.

We also added a couple new solution models:

  • Renewable Natural Gas

  • Expanded Charging Infrastructure-Enabled EV Technology

Note: CRANE Beta analyses are incompatible with the new CRANE tool

If you try to run an assessment with a model that you created with the beta version of the tool, you will see the dialog below:

Unfortunately, the old assessments are incompatible with the new tool due to the updates to the underlying methodology. However, the team behind CRANE will gladly work with you to generate those older reports, if needed, or work with you on converting those inputs to a version compatible with the current tool. If you need assistance, we encourage you to reach out to us at info@cranetool.org.

New

The CRANE tool has been updated for an improved user experience and methodology that aligns with Project Frame guidance, where impact potential is the product of 'unit impact' and 'volume'. Here's an update of what's new in the software.

Customize all aspects of the model as you're working through your assessment, down to the unit represented in your results. If you're mainly interested in exploring the data in the CRANE tool rather than entering your own numbers, you can skip directly to the results.

Easily view and edit data references.

Apply independent uncertainty values to the solution unit emissions and serviceable obtainable market.

Model market capture based on your use-case. Enter a company projection to calculated a commercial forecast (planned impact), or edit s-curve parameters to model a technology projection for potential impact.

View the results and summary information in a clear and concise format that exposes the underlying model data. View reference information in-line with the text, and also a reference table relates parameters to their corresponding references.

Improved

We've updated our user authentication system, migrating from Keycloak to Auth0. Everything in the app should work the same, but you'll see a new login page. You will also need to reset your password on your next login, which you can do by clicking 'Forgot password?' This will trigger an email with a link to update your password. If you don't see the email right away, check you spam folder.
